Inspirational Speaker: About Marci Schankweiler

Marci Schankweiler is Founder & CEO of For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS). FPS was founded after Marci lost her husband, Pete, to testicular cancer at the age of 30. Marci used this devastating moment to pause, pivot and change the direction of her life. As a tax attorney and litigator, she used her unique business skills, coupled with her emotional insight as a caregiver, to launch a non-profit inspired by Pete.

With almost two decades of experience working with adult cancer patients and their families, Marci has been recognized by various organizations and publications, including LIVESTRONG, People Magazine, Major League Baseball, the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Family Circle, Redbook, Cancer Today, SmartCEO Magazine and The Philadelphia Business Journal. Marci was also recently awarded the 2018 Woman of Excellence Award by the The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Montgomery County.

Marci’s passion for inspiring others and her experiences in building an impactful non-profit organization has made her a requested speaker for many businesses, schools and healthcare organizations. Marci writes and speaks about non-profit implementation and management, the benefits of a break from cancer for patients, caregivers and children, and the many ways we can all PAUSE on Purpose to take advantage of life’s “pivot moments” as we better ourselves and our community.

  • "Marci spoke with our group about her nonprofit work, and the importance of raising awareness and support for adult cancer patients and their loved ones. Our members were engaged and enthusiastic about the impact her organization is having on the lives of all those impacted by cancer. We look forward to welcoming Marci in the future to address the Rotary Club again!"

Charles Quattrone Member of the Rotary Club of Newtown, PA
  • "I have had the pleasure of hearing Marci speak at several of the FPS Gala events. There is rarely a dry eye during these moments. However, when she agreed to speak at our ATA 40th Anniversary at LaSalle, we heard a different yet equally impactful message. Pausing on Purpose provides the gentle reminder of the importance of living in the moment and surrounding ourselves with people we love, admire, and want to learn from, each and every day. All agreed, POP was the perfect way to culminate our special event."

Marci explains how to PAUSE on Purpose using many anecdotal and humorous stories. She might share lessons learned while growing up as the eldest of nine children, learning to decorate cakes in her parent’s bakery and taking conference calls on the beach of Sea Isle City, NJ.

Marci’s level of energy and enthusiasm leads many to question if she is, in fact, a super-human robot. Her team at For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, where she works as CEO, is fairly certain she has found a way to inject more than 24 hours into each of her days. Perhaps she will share that secret with you, or at the very least, teach you how to PAUSE on purpose and make each day meaningful and beautiful!

Be inspired. Be motivated. Be transformed.

PAUSE on Purpose, For Pete’s Sake!

Marci’s speaking engagements benefit For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS).

FPS enables cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationships by creating unforgettable and lasting respite vacations. FPS partners with oncology professionals at over 100 hospitals and cancer centers to provide eligible patients, their caregivers and kids with a one-week expense-paid respite vacation to select locations along the East Coast and in the Caribbean.

The lasting memories from their respites help FPS patients recognize that it is their priceless lives, not cancer that defines them.
